FREMONT – Three days after a man reportedly approached a young student, another child said Friday that a man in a white van approached her while she was walking to school.

Police said the elementary school student reported that a man with a black mustache, a hooded sweatshirt and a coat approached her Friday morning while she walking to school on Hayes Avenue. The man asked the girl if she wanted a ride and a Popsicle.

The girl said the man was driving a white van showing signs of rust and had a yellow bumper sticker on the rear bumper.

She described the man as thin and in his 40s, but said she could not see his face.

Police chief Tim Wiersma said the girl hid after she was unable to recognize the driver.

The report states the van circled around the area and drove away.

Tuesday, a Fremont Middle School student told police and school officials that a man in a green older-model truck with tinted window approached him and then followed him as he walked to school.

Wiersma said police are unsure if the two incidents are related, and are searching for suspects in both incidents.
