Police calls: Woman finds dad, 76, ill on floor

Burkwood Road, Mansfield — Police received a call from a 43-year-old woman who said she checked on her 76-year-old father’s well-being after he failed to answer the phone, out of concern about his medical issues, and found him on his stomach, on the floor in a spare bedroom. The woman, who lives out of town, said she found several days’ worth of mail in the mailbox, and her father’s wallet and car keys missing, along with possibly some medication. The 76-year-old was taken to OhioHealth MedCentral/Mansfield for treatment. The man’s daughter said he had several different stories as to how he wound up on the floor, at first telling her a man in a white outfit had put him there.

Mansfield — Police received a report Friday morning from a man who said his 28-year-old son took his vehicle without permission. The man said the son, who did not have a license, told him he was going to take the car to get cigarettes, but was told the father would take him. The man said after he went to the back of the house for a few minutes, he discovered the car missing, along with his driver’s license and vehicle insurance card. Police were told the 28-year-old had mentioned wanting to go to Cleveland to attend a talent show.

West Third Street, Mansfield — A 45-year-old man told police Friday morning that he received a letter from the IRS telling him they could not process his tax return, since someone had already used his personal information to file a return.

300 block of Muth Road, Mansfield — Someone ransacked an unlocked vehicle, police were told Friday morning.

800 block of Lohr Road, Mansfield — A 54-year-old woman told Richland County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday she had checked her credit report, and discovered her name was being used in Texas on two accounts that were in collections.

Puff’s, 950 Ashland Road, Mansfield — A 57-year-old woman was charged with sale of alcohol to an underage male Wednesday around 5:50 p.m. She was issued a summons on the charge, a fourth degree misdemeanor.

Richland County Jail — Justin Lee Carroll, 33, of Mansfield, was charged with illegally conveying drugs into a government facility, a third degree felony. He was arrested Wednesday around 5 p.m. at the Richland County Jail.

Ohio 97, Bellville — A burglar stole a flatscreen TV and $50 in cash from a residence, according to a Richland County sheriff’s report filed Thursday afternoon.

Middle-Bellville Road, Mansfield — Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report Thursday afternoon of a burglary in which a laptop computer and $700 worth of jewelry was taken.
