Sentences

The following people were sentenced for felony offenses in Licking County Common Pleas Court:

Michael A. Mullins, 31, last known address 18005 Goat Run Honey Fork Road, Logan, was sentenced to six months in prison after being found guilty of one count of heroin, a fifth-degree felony.

On Feb. 19, 2014, Mullins had heroin in his possession, according to court records.

Judge Thomas Marcelain ordered Mullins to pay all court costs and fees and suspended his driver’s license for six months.

Carl S. Smith, 47, last known address 1681 Churchill Downs Road, Newark, was sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty of one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

On Nov. 4, Smith had methamphetamine in his possession, according to court records.

Marcelain ordered Smith to pay all court costs and fees and suspended his driver’s license for six months.

Noah S. Shaffer, 21, last known address 5381 Reform Road, Newark, was sentenced to one year in prison after being found guilty of one count of discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, a third-degree felony.

On Sept. 14, Shaffer fired a gun at a vehicle on a public road, according to court records.

Judge David Branstool ordered Shaffer to pay all court costs and fees.

Frank A. Burcham, 44, last known address 9354 Johnstown Alexandria Road, Johnstown, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years of community control after being found guilty of one count each of vehicular assault, a fourth-degree felony; improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony; and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

On Aug. 30, Burcham caused a head-on crash while intoxicated and had a loaded firearm in the vehicle, according to court records.

Branstool ordered Burcham to pay a $500 fine and all court costs and fees and suspended his driver’s license for five years.

Herbert L. Allen II, 51, last known address 43 Oakwood Ave., Newark, was sentenced to eight months in prison after being found guilty of one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

On Nov. 4, Allen had methamphetamine in his possession, according to court records.

Branstool ordered Allen to pay all court costs and fees and suspended his driver’s license for one year.

Paula R. Kindred, 41, last known address 518 ½ Maple Ave., Newark, was sentenced to three years of community control after being found guilty of one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

On April 18, 2014, Kindred had methamphetamine in her possession, according to court records.

Branstool ordered Kindred to have no contact with a person related to the case, pay all court costs and fees and suspended her driver’s license for six months.

Jonathan E. Leonard, 25, last known address 139 Coronado Drive, Pataskala, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of rape, both first-degree felonies.

Between June 1 and Nov. 6, Leonard engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 10, according to court records.

Branstool ordered Leonard to pay all court costs and fees and register as a Tier III sexual offender, meaning he will have to register his address every 90 days for life.
