The Alley Cats perform at Bucyrus Elementary School

BUCYRUS – The Crawford County Community Concert Association will present The Alley Cats in concert at 7 p.m. April 14 in the auditorium at Bucyrus Elementary School, 245 Woodlawn Ave. The Alley Cats are a blend of musical talent and comic timing. They bring their own contemporary style to the songs of the ’50s and ’60s.

Formed during a ’50s and ’60s doo-wop revival while studying music at Fullerton College, the group’s founding fathers, Mando Fonseca and Royce “The Voice” Reynolds, decided to start an a capella group. Two additional members along the way, Todd Dixon and Andre Peek, materialized and the foursome quickly gained notice.

The Alley Cats began their musical journey in 1987 as the featured act in Disneyland’s “Blast to the Past” salute to the ’50s and ’60s. Their relationship with Disney took them to New York City where they were featured during the world premiere of Disney’s animated film, “Hercules.” Their accomplishments include numerous TV shows, radio jingles and thousands of live stage performances. The group has won two Contemporary A Capella Society awards, one for best album (”The Doo-Wop Drive-In Live”), and one for the best song (”What’s Your Name”).

Seats are available for this show. The Concert Association’s lineup for the 2015-2016 concert season will be announced and concert attendees will also have the first opportunity to renew or begin a Concert Association membership. Tickets are also available for the last show of the 2014-2015 season, “The Motown Sounds of Touch” a top three finalist on the TV show, “The Winner Is” on May 12.
