Newark mayoral debate Thursday

Newark Advocate Media and the Licking County Chamber of Commerce will host a candidates' night Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel downtown.

Candidates for Newark City Council and council president will make brief presentations beginning at 6 p.m. The main event will be a debate between Republican Mayor Jeff Hall and Democratic challenger Anthony Hottinger, which will begin about 6:30 p.m. Advocate Executive Editor Michael Shearer will serve as moderator.

The candidate event is free, but the chamber also will host a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. The cost is $5 per person for the food only. RSVP to the chamber for that portion only at 740-345-9757.
