COSHOCTON – Andrew C. Edmonds, 33, of 517 S. 10th St., remains in the Coshocton County Justice Center on $10,000 bond, charged with tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his mother.

Coshocton County Municipal Judge Timothy France set that bond Friday and scheduled Edmonds for a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. July 6 in municipal court on the third-degree felony charge.

Investigators on Wednesday afternoon found the remains of Marchelle C. Foster, 64, in the home she shared with her son, Coshocton County Sheriff Tim Rogers said.

Rogers said investigators did not find any visible signs of blunt trauma, puncture or gunshot wounds. The deteriorated condition of her body initially made it difficult to identify her, Rogers said.

The Licking County Coroner’s Office has not yet ruled on the cause of death. Without that report, the sheriff said, investigators do not know how long she had been dead before they found her.

Another relative had reported Foster missing on June 23. Deputies searched her home the next day and found her remains.

Officials formally charged Edmonds with tampering with evidence Friday.

Additional charges could be forthcoming, Rogers said.

“That will be conducted probably through the grand jury,” he said. “That is our intent.”

The case could go to a grand jury as soon as July 17, when the panel is next scheduled to convene.

Rogers said investigators “at this point, (have) no other person of interest” in the case.
