PERKINS TOWNSHIP – Two Ottawa County residents were hurt Tuesday after they were thrown from their motorcycle in a crash in Erie County, officials reported.

Motorcycle driver Kenneth Yates Jr., 46, of Oak Harbor, and passenger Janene Williams, 46, of Marblehead, were taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

Yates was listed in good condition Wednesday. Williams was not listed as a patient at the hospital.

They were not wearing helmets, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Sandusky Post.

Yates was cited with assured clear distance ahead, according to the patrol.

The crash happened at 5:39 p.m. on Bogart Road west of U.S. 250 in Perkins Township, outside Sandusky.

Yates was driving a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Bogart Road when he came up on a vehicle waiting to turn left into Shaker Village, the patrol reported.

He was able to stop the motorcycle in time, but it overturned on its side and slid off the road, the patrol reported, and he and Williams were thrown from the motorcycle.
