Brad and Jennifer Hill enter world of pizza making

LANCASTER – Brad and Jennifer Hill are the latest to enter the competitive business of pizza making, as they recently opened Jenny’s Pizza at 358C Lincoln Avenue.

“I’ve always been a cook at home as long as I can remember,” Jennifer Hill said. “I always helped my mom cook and always wanted to do it. I just started dabbling and the pizza was easier to get started than anything else. I wanted to do a deli-style at first, but I think the pizza would do better.”

Besides pizza, the menu includes calzones, subs and various appetizers. There is no seating, so all service is take-out or delivery.

Jennifer Hill said customers can expect a homemade pizza with fresh dough, homemade sauce and a good friendly atmosphere.

“My favorite is our subs,” Brad Hill said. “We have all kinds of subs — chicken subs, barbeque chicken subs, calzones and the specialty pizzas all the time, it’s not just certain times. We have Phillys, chicken pizzas, those kinds of things. The sauce is a sweet, tangy and little spicy kind of sauce. The kids seem to like to like it, so it’s not too overbearing.”

Brad Hill said business was good a few days after opening, in part because of social media advertising.

“I think it’s huge,” he said of the importance of social media. “You can get it spread like wildfire. You can have a particular kind of post, say a coupon for instance. You can reach 5,000 or 6,000 people for 10 bucks. I think any kind of advertising like that, you’re going to do pretty well. At least get some kind of response.”

The business is located near where the Fairfield County commissioners want to build a county jail. Those who oppose the jail say it could hurt downtown business. But Brad Hill said he is not concerned about it.

“Not really,” he said. “We’ll probably end up delivering there. Absolutely.”

Jenny’s Pizza is open seven days a week.

“We’re going to try it out and see how it goes,” Brad Hill said.

Monday through Thursday hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is open on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
