Head-on crash ignites two vehicles on County Road 271

TUSCARAWAS TOWNSHIP — A head-on crash on County Road 271, near Ohio 83, ignited two vehicles and sent one driver to the hospital early Thursday morning, according to the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office.

John Clark III, of New Concord, was taken by Coshocton County Emergency Medical Service medics to Coshocton Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released from the emergency department, according to a news release posted on the Sheriff's Facebook page.

The other driver, Roy Miller, of Dundee, was evaluated by medics at the scene and was released.

Deputies report Clark was unable to get out of his vehicle and was assisted to safety by a Warsaw resident. The collision was reported at 5:57 a.m. Thursday.

According to the sheriff's office, Clark was traveling northbound on County Road 271 when he drove left of center, striking Miller's southbound vehicle head-on. Both vehicles caught fire.

Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton County REACT, the Three Rivers Fire Department, Coshocton City Fire Department, Coshocton County Highway Department and Prince's Wrecker assisted the sheriff's office.
