Playful Mitchell likes a cozy bed

Mitchell is a beautiful and fun 31/2-year-old, orange-and-white cat searching for a forever family.

He came to the Licking County Humane Society from a colony of feral cats he was living with who were part of a trap, neuter and return program. When captured, society officials quickly realized Mitchell was far from feral. He’s been with the Humane Society since April, and a few scratches on his nose have healed.

Mitchell lives in the communal cat room and will often be the first one to greet you when you enter. He gets along well with other cats, although sometimes he annoys kittens who don’t want to play with him.

He loves to chase toys and will entertain you for hours if you have a feather stick. He has a playful nature, but he does like to nap in a cozy bed.

LCHS is overwhelmed with cats and is running an adoption special of $40 for a cat or kitten and $10 for each additional feline.

Feline adoption fees are usually $85. That includes spay/neuter, FIV/LUK test, first set of vaccinations including rabies, microchip, deworming, 30 days Shelter Care insurance and starter bag of food. Unaltered felines require an additional $50 deposit, which will be refunded after they are taken to their spay/neuter appointments.

Be a permanent part of the new shelter by donating a commemorative brick, tile, walking path memorial or bench to remember a loved one or a cherished pet.

For more information about adopting, the low-cost spay/neuter clinic or supporting the LCHS through membership, call 740-323-2100 or visit 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday, noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 4 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
