Three enter not-guilty pleas in drug cases

COSHOCTON – Three people suspected to be involved in the making and possession of methamphetamine were arraigned Monday in Coshocton County Common Pleas Court.

All entered pleas of not guilty to the charges against them, which also included child endangering against a Coshocton couple and the selling of heroin against a West Lafayette man in the separate cases.

Gerald N. Holt Jr., 34, and Tiffany C. Workman, 21, are charged with illegal assemble or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, and endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Holt is also charged with illegal manufacture of drugs, a first-degree felony, and aggravated possession of a controlled substance, a fifth-degree felony.

The pair are suspected of having items used in the making of methamphetamine such as pseudoephedrine, foil balls, and lithium batteries and strips, court records state.

Documents also allege the couple's two children, ages 2 and 1, were in the home at the time of a raid by law enforcement.

The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office arrested Workman and Holt after the execution of a search warrant Feb. 10 in the 900 block of South Sixth Street. Neither has any previous felony charges listed against them on the common pleas court website.

Workman was released from the Coshocton Justice Center after posting 10 percent of a $5,000 bond on Feb. 27. Holt is out of jail on a medical furlough because of a pre-existing condition.

Shawn S. Bradford, 32, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony, and the illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony.

He's accused of selling half a gram of heroin near a school Jan. 15, according to court documents.

The indictment against him also alleges that Bradford was found by law enforcement to have lye, fuel, lithium batteries and decongestant known to be used to make meth when he was arrested Jan. 16.

Bradford remains incarcerated on a $20,000 bond. He has no other felony charges on his record, according to the common pleas court website.

Other arraignments from Monday included Robert W. West on a charge of assault of a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony, Areon Kirk on three counts of suspicion of trafficking in cocaine, fifth-degree felonies, and Darryl L. Marteny on suspicion of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, and theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, of scrap metal from R&Z Core.

All pleaded not guilty.

Scheduling conferences for all of the cases are set for 2 p.m. April 10 in common pleas court.
