Northmor dominating sectional meet

CARDINGTON – Northmor blazed to a huge lead in the team standings Friday after three rounds of the Division III sectional wrestling tournament at Cardington-Lincoln High School.

The Golden Knights show 88 points to lead runner-up Pleasant by 30 points. The Spartans have 58 points.

Twenty-four wrestlers from area teams advanced to the semifinals of their respective weight divisions. Those matches are on the schedule for Saturday, a slate which begins at 10 a.m. with consolation bouts.

Northmor has wrestlers in nine of the 14 divisions' semifinals.

Four weight divisions will feature matchups of area competitors in semifinal bouts.

Ethan Ice of Pleasant will battle Chandler Sandusky of North Union at 132 pounds; Northmor's Jake Farley will meet Brock Zugg of Pleasant at 138; Mount Gilead's Tim Williamson will square off against Sam Neer of Northmor at 145; and Brandon Cox of North Union and Mount Gilead's Kaleb Fisher will grapple at heavyweight.

The other area semifinalists are Carter Wolf of Pleasant and Jakob Neer from Northmor at 103; North Union's Noah Maynard and Aaron Kitts of Northmor at 113; Preston Smith of Pleasant and Northmor's Conan Becker at 120; Northmor's Griffin Jenkins at 126; Pleasant's Noah Alexander at 132; Christian Koch of North Union at 138; Cardington-Lincoln's Lane Waddell at 145; Mount Gilead's Billy Maytac at 152; 170-pounder Corbin Bunsold of North Union; Northmor's Kyle Johnson at 182; Lane Foster of Northmor at 195; Cardington-Lincoln's Jarrod Fair at 220; and Brice Trimble of Northmor at 285.

Other area grapplers were still alive in the consolation brackets with the chance to score place finishes.

The top four place winners in each weight class will advance to next weekend's district tournament at Coshocton High School.
