FREMONT – Chelsea Vasquez, 20, who officials reported was shot Saturday afternoon at a Bidwell Avenue apartment, was in critical condition Sunday, according to ProMedica Toledo Hospital officials.

The hospital had no information on the other person shot at the address, 23-year-old Devin Liggins.

The pair were first taken to ProMedica Memorial Hospital after the shootings, then transported by Life Flight to Toledo ProMedica Hospital, police said.

There were no additional updates on the victims' conditions Sunday night from the hospital.

Capt. Jim White, of the Fremont Police Department, said Sunday that he did not have information about the circumstances of the shooting. Fremont detectives and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were looking into the shooting Saturday, and the case remains under scrutiny.

Fremont police, fire and emergency medical service squads were called to 519 Bidwell Ave. after a report at 12:31 p.m. Saturday of shots fired in an apartment complex.

A caller said a man and woman were inside the building at the time, according to scanner traffic.

Shortly after arriving, a responding officer requested additional officers for crowd control, as well as another EMS squad to tend to at least two victims.

The residence at 519 Bidwell Ave. is listed as a three-bedroom, one-bath home.

The same block of Bidwell Avenue has been the site of recent police activity. Authorities searched a neighboring home, 503 Bidwell Ave., on May 8 in connection with the April killing of Heather Bogle, 28, of Ballville Township.
