Firefighters helping to fight cancer

Paula Fahle

There are eight Lindsey firefighters that will put their heads where their hearts are next month. The firefighters will have their heads shaved to help raise money for children’s cancer research by participating in the St. Baldrick’s fundraiser event from 2 to 5 p.m. April 19, at the Sandusky Township Fire Station. The firefighters that are taking donations for this and will have their heads shaved that day are Jason Conklin, John Zimmerman, Chris Teague, Jordan Nichols, Caleb Reineck, Jay Ernsberger, Jeff Schultz and A.J. Green. On behalf of children, Team Lindsey Fire would greatly appreciate your financial support for this worthwhile cause. Donations can also be given at Grate’s Silvertop, Root’s Poultry, Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed, Designs Unlimited and Hasslebach Meats.

Scouting for food

The Lindsey Boy Scouts will collect nonperishable food items for the “Scouting for Food” project. Anyone who would like to donate to this project should place food to be donated in the plastic grocery bags to be picked up Saturday . It is requested that no glass jars be included in the food donations. The bags need to be on the porch or stoops by 9 a.m. Saturday and visible from the street.

Cemetery cleanup

The Washington Township Trustees announce that the cemeteries under their care will be cleaned up beginning Wednesday. Everyone is asked to remove decorations by that date from the Lindsey Cemetery, Washington Chapel Cemetery and the Hessville Cemetery. Decorations remaining after Wednesday will be discarded by the cemetery section.

Come see new fire station

Lindsey and surrounding area people are invited to stroll through the existing Lindsey Fire Station from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in downtown Lindsey. The building will be torn down in April and will be replaced by a new fire station and meeting room. There will be a groundbreaking ceremony at the event on Sunday. At 4:30 p.m. that day, there will be a short program and presentation of the details surrounding this project. The fire department lead a campaign for this project that raised $1 million through donation, pledges and fundraisers. No tax dollars will be used to build the new station.
