Early morning accident sends one to the hospital

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a one-vehicle rollover accident near the address of 20800 CR 18 in Perry Twp. around 12:22 a.m. Saturday.

The vehicle was driven by a Joshua E. Redifer, a 21 year-old male from Zanesville. Redifer was traveling eastbound on CR 18 when he lost control of his vehicle going off the right side of the roadway. Redifer's vehicle slid along the road about 50 feet then flipped onto its side before it began to roll down the embankment coming to rest on the passenger's side in a field.

The passenger in the vehicle, Jelissa N. Atkins, a 22-year-old female from Zanesville, was thrown from the vehicle. Atkins was alert and conscious at the scene but was flown to OSU Hospital for further evaluation.

Speed and alcohol are suspected to be a factor in the accident, and this matter remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Coshocton County EMS, Dresden and Warsaw Fire Depts., REACT and Princes wrecker service.
