Man facing weapons charge after firearm incident

FREMONT – Police charged a Fremont man with having a weapon while under disability Saturday after officers responded to a shooting call in the area of Bidwell and Hayes avenues.

Robert E. Cooks, 45, of Fremont, was charged with the count after the incident about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

A loaded .380 HiPoint handgun was seized at the scene. No victim was found, according to a Fremont police report.

A male subject was observed holding his arm and walking southward away from the area of Front Street, according to the report.

Cooks was taken to the Sandusky County jail.
