CHILLICOTHE – A 16-year-old Ross County boy was injured after an altercation in Yoctangee Park Thursday.

The boy said he was driving to his sister’s house in the city and traveling through the park. He stopped by the basketball courts and was talking on his wireless phone when another boy came up and told him to get out of the car.

When the victim got out of the car, he was struck by another boy, then “punched and kicked” by several others, according to police. He also told an officer that his head struck a pole and he was knocked unconscious.

When he regained consciousness and got back to his vehicle, he drove to the city pool, where police and EMS were called. Police noted several injuries to his face and the boy’s eyes were swelling shut. His vehicle had been gone through and his wallet was missing but was later found near the basketball courts by another officer.

The boy was taken to Adena Medical Center for treatment and one suspect was identified. Police were to interview the suspect Friday.
