Lady Cats reach district final
SPARTA – North Union’s girls basketball team will play in a Division III Central District championship game at 6 p.m. Friday at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus.
The Lady Cats (25-1) advanced to the finale with a 58-27 triumph Tuesday night over Utica at Highland High School.
North Union will play either Bexley or Africentric at ODU on Friday.
North Union burst out to a 15-5 lead in the first quarter against Utica and led 30-18 at halftime.
After each team scored nine points in the third period to maintain North Union’s lead at 12 at 39-27, the Lady Cats shut out Utica 19-0 in the final quarter.
Emily Clark led North Union with 21 points while Taylor Hoffman and Avery Clark each tallied nine.
Rachel Londot paced Utica (13-11) with nine points.
