No bomb found at Foxfire

Staff Report

ZANESVILLE – Officials found no bomb after a bomb threat was made at Foxfire School on Tuesday afternoon.

Foxfire Superintendent Todd Whiteman said a teacher found the threat on a written note in one of the elementary bathrooms at about 12:50 p.m. The school was evacuated and the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office responded.

Parents were notified and officials conducted a sweep of the school. No device was found.

Less than an hour after the evacuation, students returned to class and resumed the school day.

Whiteman said both police and internal investigations of the threat were ongoing.

"We don't take this lightly," he said.

This is the first bomb threat at the school, Whiteman said, and he was pleased with how smooth the evacuation process went.

"It's unfortunate that it happened, but it's fortunate that we dealt with it properly," he said. "I'm just so relieved everybody's safe and secure."
