CLYDE – Homicide victim Heather Bogle was shot twice in the back, a preliminary autopsy report revealed on Monday.

Sandusky County Coroner John Wukie said Bogle's body also showed signs of blunt force trauma. He is still awaiting a final toxicology report from the Lucas County Coroner's Office.

Lead detective Sean O'Connell of the Sandusky County sheriff's department said six investigators have been working on the Bogle case.

O'Connell said investigators from Bellevue, Clyde and Fremont police are assisting with the investigation. The list of persons of interest is getting smaller as detectives await the results from evidence processed during the second search of a Somerton Apartment on Hickory Street on April 16.

The investigation has continued each day since Bogle's body was discovered on April 10 and, despite a misunderstanding, each agency continues working on the investigation.

Sheriff Kyle Overmyer released a statement April 24 in response to questions on whether Clyde police had been removed from the investigation.

"We have asked for the assistance of outside agencies, including Clyde," the statement said.

Clyde Police chief Bruce Gower, who is on vacation, said Monday that his investigators, Monti Campbell and Brian Weaver, told him they had been removed from the case by the sheriff.

"My understanding is that Kyle delivered a message to Weaver and Campbell (removing them from the case)," Gower said. "We're back on it, I guess."

Campbell said he and Weaver were not taken off the case but were told by Overmyer's office that they were not needed for one day late last week.

"We are still assisting as far as I know," Campbell said. "We were just told our assistance was not needed. It grew into something more."

Investigators are still seeking help in identifying a white vehicle that may have been involved, but the make and model are unknown.

The white vehicle may have picked up the driver of Bogle's green 2003 Oldsmobile Alero in which police found her body.

Shortly after Bogle's death, the community came together to hold a vigil at Fremont Baptist Church where she attended services each week.

"It's hard to think about why this happened to her," co-worker Jacob Level said. "But we need to help McKenzie (Bogle's daughter). It's not just the Christian thing to do; it's the human thing to do."

The daughter is staying with family, and fund-raisers will be held in the area to help raise money for her expenses.

Pastor Jeff Good was not only Bogle's minister but also her co-worker at Whirlpool in Clyde. He said he had worked with her for about two years and that she always had a smile on her face.

"She was like my daughter; she was always sweet, always smiling," Good said.

Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to identifying the person or people responsible for Bogle's death.
