ZANESVILLE – An investigation continued through the night after a man was shot Sunday night on South Street, according to Lt. Chris Rice of the Zanesville Police Department.

The ZPD, Zanesville Fire Department and Community Ambulance responded shortly after receiving a call of the incident at 10:16 p.m.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was shot in the right forearm and suffered an injury that is not life-threatening, Rice said.

He was transported to Genesis Good Samaritan hospital after being found in the parking lot of King's Auto Glass, located on the corner of Sixth and South streets.

Rice said there were no suspects as of 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

"Det. (Tom) Porter is still interviewing witnesses," Rice said. "We've got a couple of good witnesses that were there when this whole thing happened. We're still trying to piece things together."

South Street was closed at Fifth and Sixth streets for more than two hours as police, including Porter and Evidence Technician Gary Moore, searched a scene that included a three-story brick apartment complex at 621 South.

They found two revolvers — one in the street and another in an apartment — and bullet holes were found in a wall and the front door of the complex.

Multiple shots were fired, Rice said, but it was unclear exactly where the shooting occurred. A motive, if any, was also unknown.

"He left a pretty good blood trail," Rice said.

It was reported to the ZPD that the shooter may have left the scene in a white car, "but we can't confirm or deny that," Rice said.

More details will be released pending further investigation, which will likely continue through the morning, Rice said.
