West Muskingum students’ art on display at statehouse

ZANESVILLE – Four local students will have art work featured in a month-long 2015 Statehouse Student Exhibition in Columbus.

Abby Lynn, Dana Norris, Bailie Miller and Kelly Stainbrook, all 10th graders at West Muskingum High School, completed artwork during the first semester that was selected for the April exhibit at the statehouse.

The four students created their work in Heather Beauchamp’s Art 1 and Art Appreciation classes. Beauchamp is the art advocacy chair for the East Region of the Ohio Art Education Association.

The exhibition recognizes both the students’ creativity, and the art education they receive at school. The Ohio Art Education Association, the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation, the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, and Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board all host the event.

The exhibition features 40 works of art created by students K-12 in Ohio’s public schools and is available for public viewing during regular business hours.
