School board to sell former Lincoln property

Staff Report

COSHOCTON – The former Lincoln Elementary School property will be sold on the private market, according to a resolution the Coshocton City School board passed in special session Thursday.

Four board members met to approve the resolution, which green lights the superintendent and treasurer to hire a real estate agent and negotiate sale prices for the Cambridge Road lot.

“We are having some unsolicited offers so this is a step the board needed to take to start considering offers,” said Superintendent David Hire.

The board had rejected a $40,000 bid for the lot after a public auction in February. The school board appraised the site at $155,000.

The former Central Elementary Lot, located on Walnut Street, sold at public auction for $200,000. The county commissioners previously announced they purchased the site for a new justice center.

The board has previously indicated it will keep Century 21’s Jim Nelson as the realtor. Nelson was the auctioneer during the public auction for both sites.
