CHILLICOTHE – A man was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after being stabbed three times in the abdomen near the floodwall.

According to the Chillicothe police report, an officer was dispatched about 10:30 p.m. to the 700 block of Safford Avenue on a call of a stabbing. When the officer arrived, a man was applying pressure to the abdomen of another man.

The victim, Jared Morgan, 29, suffered three puncture wounds to the stomach and could barely speak, according to the report.

The man who applied pressure to the wound told police he had been inside a store buying a soft drink when he heard a man outside had been stabbed. The man used his hooded sweatshirt and towels to apply pressure until medics arrived.

Two other witnesses said they saw Morgan stumbling from the direction of the floodwall and heard him asking for help before he collapsed in the parking lot of the BP Gas Station.

Police patrolled the area to look for a suspect Morgan described as being a 6-foot tall white male wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. The man is said to have a goatee, short hair or a shaved head and a tattoo on his neck, according to Capt. Timothy Gay.

Morgan was taken to Adena Medical Center. No word on his condition has been released.
