Newark sweeps OCC-Ohio Division basketball awards

Newark players and coaches have won both Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards from the Ohio Capital Conference-Ohio Division.

Jordan Dartis and Kym Royster were named players of the year, and Jeff Quackenbush and J.R. Shumate were coaches of the year for boys and girls basketball, respectively.

Dartis was named to the first team, while Darius Shackleford was a second-team honoree. Kasey Brokaw-Henderson was a special-mention selection, and Khayle Woods was an honorable mention. Newark tied for the division title with Gahanna.

Royster was named to the first team with Adrian Crockwell. Ali Cartnal was named to the second team, and Emily Paul was special mention.

Tana Barrett was an honorable mention, and Taylor Henson won the scholar athlete award. Newark won the division outright.
