Many area tracksters competing in regionals

MARION – Many area athletes are competing in high school track regional meets this week.

The Div. I regional meet is at Pickerington High School North, the Div. II meet is at Lexington, and the Div. III meet is being held at Fairfield Union.

River Valley’s boys won their third straight district title in track Saturday while Mount Gilead’s girls were also district team winners.

River Valley scored 106 points at Westerville North to win a Division II crown, their fifth in the last eight years.

The Vikes’ 4x200 relay of David Blanton, Perez, Silva and Cole also set a school mark with a win in 1:29.68, and that foursome also set a school record in the 4x100 relay with 43.33 in finishing second.

Mount Gilead’s girls took the Div. III title at Whitehall-Yearling with 97 points.

Following are other regional qualifiers from the Div. II meet which River Valley won:

4x400 relay: River Valley team of Greg Perez, Efren Silva, Luke Waterman and Bailey Cole, first in 3:25.53.

110 hurdles: Evan Main, River Valley, third in 16.33; Luke Myers, Elgin, fourth in 16.43.

100: Kyle Galyk, Pleasant, second in 11.25.

4x100 relay: Pleasant team of Justin McCurdy, Nico Sansotta, Josh Warner and Galyk, fourth in 44 seconds.

400: McCurdy, second in 50.42.

300 hurdles: Main, second in 42.03.

800: Waterman, fourth in 2:03.29.

200: Galyk, second in 22.27.

4x200 relay: Pleasant team of McCurdy, Sansotta, Warner and Galyk, second in 1:30.96.

Div. II boys

110 hurdles: Sawyer Shipman, Mount Gilead, second in 15.58.

4x200 relay: Mount Gilead team of Deondre Cook, Jonah Barnett, Dustin Fraizer and Shipman, third in 1:34.55.

1600: Austin Hallabrin, Mount Gilead, first in 4:30.66; Tyler Beck, Mount Gilead, second in 4:32.28.

300 hurdles: Shipman, third in 40.53.

800: Ethan Hatfield, Mount Gilead, third in 2:03.25.

3200: Beck, Mount Gilead, third in 10:10.75.

200: Joseph Elson, Mount Gilead, third in 23.19.

4x400 relay: Mount Gilead team of Elson, Hallabrin, Hatfield and Beck, third in 3:27.73.

Div. II girls

4x200 relay: River Valley team of Anna Hopkins, Savannah Amato, Kendall Stuckman and Brooke Edington, fourth in 1:49.95.

3200: Boston Osborne, Pleasant, second in 12:29.74; Jaylynn Lewis, River Valley, third in 12:42.35; and Morgan Chapman, North Union, fourth in 12:48.39.

4x400 relay: River Valley team of Hopkins, Amato, Edington and Stuckman, fourth in 4:14.94.

Div. III boys

1600: Jacob Long, Cardington-Lincoln, third in 4:31.45.

300 hurdles: James Walker, Northmor, fourth in 41.83.

800: Duvan Bautista, Ridgedale, fourth in 2:00.59.

Div. III girls

100 hurdles: Rebecca Kindred, Mount Gilead, second in 16.43.

100: Olivia Brewer, Mount Gilead, second in 12.85.

4x200 relay: Mount Gilead team of Makaylee Elkins, Kindred, Morgan Brooke and Brewer, fourth in 1:48.87.

4x100 relay: Mount Gilead team of Elkins, Kindred, Hannah Scott and Brewer, fourth in 52.13.

300 hurdles: Rachel Bush, Mount Gilead, second in 46.44.

200: Brewer, fourth in 200, 26.79.

3200: Isabelle Ditullio, Northmor, second in 11:52.4.

4x400 relay: Mount Gilead team of Rachel Bush, Bryanna Bolha, Morgan Brooke, Jenna Shipman, fourth in 4:08.92.

Earlier regional qualifiers Amato and Christie Longo of River Valley set school records in their events. Amato cleared 12-4 in the pole vault and Longo threw the shot put 38-3 ¾.

Kyle Goings’ 15-foot pole vault which took first place in Div. I district action at Hilliard Darby earlier in the week was a Marion Harding school record.
