Newark’s Larry Morgan races to NHRA Pro Stock win

CONCORD, N.C. – Larry Morgan used great reaction time to earn his first NHRA victory in six years Sunday at zMAX Dragway.

The Newark racer won the Pro Stock division at the Four-Wide Nationals as part of the NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series. It was his 11th career Pro Stock title and first since winning at Sonoma, Calif. in 2009.

Racing in his FireAde Chevrolet Camaro, Morgan clocked a career-best E-time of 6.424 and speed of 214.52 en route to the win. He beat Greg Anderson by about nine feet.

Morgan had qualified seventh on Saturday.
